Charter booking terms
A readable charter-specific summary of Allsail’s published terms updated 1 October 2026, for charters commencing after that date. This is not the course, membership, regatta or overseas-holiday agreement. Obtain your boat-specific written quote and agreement before payment.
Source checked 8 October 2026. No July 2020 or 2021 terms have been used.
Your agreement and consumer rights
Read Allsail’s full current charter section, linked below, alongside this summary and your written booking agreement. Ask the office to clarify any difference before paying. All references to refund restrictions, liability exclusions or forfeiture are subject to rights that cannot be excluded under applicable Australian consumer law.
Important source conflict: the generic October terms state a $2,000 bond, while Allsail’s 2026/27 rates specify $4,000 for Impulso and One More and $2,000 for the other listed boats. Service pages also differ from rates on the single-day overnight surcharge (20% versus 25%). Have Allsail confirm the exact bond, surcharge and agreement for your boat in writing; this summary does not resolve those conflicts.
Confirmation and payment
Charter confirmation requires a deposit of $300 or 30% of the proposed charter fee, whichever is greater. Authorising the deposit starts the agreement to charter; an availability enquiry is not a confirmed booking.
Full payment is normally due 30 days before charter. The published terms allow credit card, EFTPOS or cash; personal/company cheques must be paid 35 days before charter. Handover requires full payment on the agreed terms. Confirm payment methods and deadlines directly with Allsail; do not enter card details in this website’s enquiry form.
Cancellation and postponement
Cancellation requires 30 days’ notice in writing or by email and Allsail’s written acknowledgement. The published terms charge a refund administration fee of 10% of the proposed charter fee.
With less than 30 days’ notice, cancellation or agreed postponement forfeits 50% of the total fee. Within 14 days, the stated refund is only 20%, unless another party books the yacht for the full period. Within seven days the full fee is forfeited, unless the yacht is rebooked for the full period. Ask Allsail to confirm the outcome for your dates and any rebooking.
For an approved postponement, payments are held for a future booking subject to availability, with no refund under the published terms. A rebooking fee of $200 or up to 10% of the charter fee may apply.
Security bond, damage and late return
A credit-card security bond/pre-authorisation is required; confirm the boat-specific amount in writing as explained above. The rates page says a pre-authorisation is not processed unless there is a claim. The generic terms describe credit-card authorisation for documented damage (normal wear and tear excepted) and late return at $120 per hour or part-hour. Personal or company cheques are not accepted for the bond.
The generic terms state that credit-card vouchers are held for 14 days after the charter and returned or destroyed at your direction. Confirm the current handling and release process with the office. Where alcohol, drugs or other conduct invalidate the yacht’s insurance, the charterer may be responsible for the total damage cost under the published terms; the bond is not necessarily a liability cap.
Weather, disruption and yacht availability
Allsail determines conditions and postponement on the day. A strong wind or gale warning for Pittwater or Broken Bay may prevent departure. Do not sail above 25 knots; find a safe mooring and call Allsail.
If weather prevents the charter, the published terms provide rebooking subject to availability or a credit note valid for 12 months from the original charter date, rather than a refund. For events beyond Allsail’s reasonable control—such as storm, flood, fire, war, labour dispute, pandemic, transport embargo or government restrictions—the terms provide postponement to a suitable available date, no refund and no claim for consequential costs, subject to applicable consumer rights.
Allsail may substitute a yacht of as similar a size/style as possible. If neither the booked yacht nor a suitable replacement is available on the day, the published terms provide a refund of all money paid, excluding claims for inconvenience or contingent costs subject to applicable consumer rights.
Safe operation, competence and provisions
Bareboat skippers must provide experience and qualification evidence and complete Allsail’s sailing résumé. Allsail assesses suitability for the proposed yacht, including during the briefing. A skipper or guide at additional cost is required if competence is insufficient; declining that arrangement leads to cancellation with only a 40% refund under the published terms.
No offshore use. Stay within the briefed charter area. Overnight bareboat boats must be moored before dark and must not move between sunset and sunrise. Docking at most jetties or wharves is prohibited. Confirm tender or paid water-taxi arrangements instead.
Arrange catering yourself or directly with a provider. No leftover-drinks returns or storage. Wear comfortable clothing; no black-soled or hard shoes. No rigid plastic/metal food containers or hard coolers/eskies aboard. Fridges or iceboxes are provided. Follow posted parking signs and ask Allsail about alternatives before paying.
